In the Ocean, waves went swish-swish. Coral went bright.
A Beautiful Mermaid Princess swam slow and happy. She was a mermaid. She was gentle and brave. She liked to help little fish feel safe.
She wore a small pearl crown. It tickled. “Hee-hee,” she giggled.
One morning, the sky above the water looked odd. It was missing one twinkle.
A Princess came by in a bubble boat. She was a sea Princess from a nearby reef. She was kind, but a little worried.
“Mermaid Princess,” said the Princess, “the night feels less sparkly. One star is gone.”
A Beautiful Mermaid Princess blinked. “Gone?”
“Gone,” said the Princess. “Can we find it?”
“Yes,” said A Beautiful Mermaid Princess. “We will look.”
A soft voice floated down like a tiny bell. “Pssst.”
It was an Imaginary Animal. It looked like a little whale-cat with cloud ears. Only some friends could see it.
“I can sniff sparkle,” it whispered. “Sniff-sniff!”
They followed the Imaginary Animal past wavy sea grass. Past a sleepy turtle. Past a rock that looked like a nose.
The Ocean made funny sounds. Bloop. Blub.
Then they met the Star Collector.
The Star Collector was not mean. He was careful and quiet. He wore a net made of moonlight threads. His pockets jingled like tiny chimes.
“I collect fallen stars,” he said softly. “I keep them safe.”
The Princess frowned. “But the sky needs its star.”
A Beautiful Mermaid Princess swam closer. She was brave, but polite.
“Hello,” she said. “Did a little star fall?”
The Star Collector nodded. “Yes. It landed near the deep kelp. It was scared and dim.”
The Imaginary Animal did a silly spin. “Scared star! I know scared!”
A Beautiful Mermaid Princess put a hand on her heart. “We can help. We can bring it back.”
The Star Collector looked surprised. “Back? It might wiggle away.”
“We will be gentle,” said A Beautiful Mermaid Princess. “Like holding a bubble.”
So they swam to the deep kelp. It was dark-dim, but not scary. Just hush.
There, under a shell, a tiny star blinked. Blink… blink…
“Hi, little star,” said A Beautiful Mermaid Princess. “You are safe.”
The star trembled.
The Princess spoke softly. “We are friends.”
The Imaginary Animal made a warm purr-hum. “Hmmm. Hmmm.”
A Beautiful Mermaid Princess had an idea. She was clever.
She found a big clear bubble and shaped it with her hands. “Bubble home,” she said.
The Star Collector helped. He used his moonlight net like a soft blanket. “Very soft,” he promised.
The star slid into the bubble. It glowed a little more.
“Good job!” said the Princess.
Now they needed to send it up.
A Beautiful Mermaid Princess swam to the tallest coral tower. She held the bubble high.
“Up, up,” she whispered.
The Imaginary Animal blew a gentle pretend-wind. Whooo.
The Star Collector tapped the bubble with one finger. Ting!
The bubble floated up through the Ocean, up to the top, to the air.
They all waited.
Then the night came, and the missing twinkle was back. The sky winked.
The Princess clapped. “It’s back!”
The Star Collector smiled wide. “Thank you. I wanted to protect it, but it belongs up there.”
He opened his pocket and poured out a gift.
Pearl candies! Round and shiny. And a tiny star-shaped seashell that glowed like a night-light.
“For you,” said the Star Collector.
A Beautiful Mermaid Princess took the glowing seashell. “I will keep it near my bed-coral,” she said.
The Imaginary Animal booped the seashell. “Boop! Glow!”
The Princess laughed. “We did it together.”
In the Ocean, waves went swish-swish. Coral went bright. And A Beautiful Mermaid Princess swam home with a new treasure, feeling cozy and proud.
