Beautiful baby girl was a tiny mermaid in the Galaxy. She had soft blue hair and a shiny tail. She was brave, but she was also a little shy. Sometimes she hid behind her bubbles.
She lived in a warm star-sea, where little lights swam like fish. The lights went blink, blink, blink.
One morning, Beautiful baby girl looked up and gasped.
“Oh no,” she whispered.
One bright star was missing from the Sky Coral. The Sky Coral was like a big sparkly reef in space. It helped the Galaxy glow at bedtime.
A small friend floated near her.
It was Flower.
Flower was not a plant in dirt. Flower was a tiny floating flower-light, with petal-shaped rays. Flower was cheerful and quick. Flower liked to giggle and spin.
“Find it!” Flower chimed. “Let’s go, let’s go!”
Beautiful baby girl nodded. “I will try.”
Her voice was small, but her heart was big.
They swam past sleepy moon shells. They swam around a slow comet, like a long shiny ribbon.
Flower zipped ahead. “This way! I smell star-dust!”
Beautiful baby girl followed. She practiced her gentle mermaid magic.
She made a bubble-lantern.
Pop. Glow.
It lit the dark like a night-light.
Then a shadow swooshed by.
A Wizard hovered on a flat rock of space.
He wore a pointy hat that looked too big.
He held a wand that went tap tap.
The Wizard frowned. “No star for you,” he said.
Beautiful baby girl felt a wobble in her tummy.
Flower whispered, “He is grumpy. Maybe he is lonely.”
The Wizard waved his wand.
Whoosh!
A sleepy fog came out.
Beautiful baby girl blinked. “Too sleepy…,” she said.
Flower spun fast and blew a tiny petal-breeze.
Puff!
The fog moved away.
Beautiful baby girl remembered something her mama-star once told her: “Breathe. Count slow.”
So she did.
“One… two… three.”
Her tail stopped shaking.
She swam closer, polite and calm.
“Hello, Wizard,” she said. “Did you take the missing star?”
The Wizard looked down.
He did not shout now. He looked tired.
“Yes,” he muttered. “I took it. The Galaxy is too bright. I can’t sleep.”
Flower tilted. “We can help you sleep,” Flower said.
Beautiful baby girl had an idea.
She made a big soft bubble, like a cozy bed.
Then she made her bubble-lantern dim.
Glow… low… low.
“See?” she said. “We can make night gentle. Not scary. Not too bright.”
The Wizard blinked.
His shoulders dropped.
“Gentle night,” he whispered. “That sounds nice.”
He opened his hand.
There was the missing star!
It was small, warm, and golden.
“Thank you,” Beautiful baby girl said.
She placed the star back into the Sky Coral.
At once, the Galaxy shimmered.
Not too bright.
Just right.
The Sky Coral made a gift.
Plink!
Out popped a little star-pearl necklace, made of tiny glowing beads.
Beautiful baby girl’s eyes went wide.
“A treasure!” she squealed.
Flower clapped its petal-rays. “Pretty! Pretty!”
The Wizard yawned, but in a happy way.
“Can I have a small bubble-bed too?” he asked.
Beautiful baby girl nodded. “Yes. Gentle night for everyone.”
They all floated together, quiet and safe.
Blink, blink, blink.
And Beautiful baby girl wore her star-pearl treasure as the Galaxy cuddled into bedtime.
