Rosie and the Stolen Colors

Rosie the Laughing Ballerina was a girl who loved to tip-toe and giggle. She danced in the Amusement Park where lights blinked and music went “la-la-la.” Rosie was a little shy at first, but her laughter was brave. When she laughed, people felt happy.

One bright day, the Queen came to visit the park. The Queen wore a shiny crown and a kind smile. She waved slowly and said, “Hello, little dancer.”

Rosie curtsied. “Hello, Your Majesty. Want to see a twirl?”

The Queen clapped softly. “Yes, please.”

Rosie twirled near the carousel. Horses went up and down. Rosie went round and round. She laughed, “Hee-hee!”

But then—whoosh!

The colors in the park started to fade. The pink balloons looked gray. The red candy looked dull. Even the carousel lights looked sleepy.

A tall person in a cape appeared. The Illusionist bowed. “I make tricks,” he whispered. “I hid the park’s colors in my magic mirrors.”

The Queen looked worried. “Oh dear. Without colors, the park feels sad.”

Rosie held the Queen’s hand. “We can find them. I will try.”

They walked past the popcorn cart. They listened. No happy jingle. Only quiet.

Rosie said, “Illusionist, why take the colors?”

The Illusionist shrugged. “I wanted everyone to look at me. Only me.”

Rosie nodded. “You can have friends too. But first, we need the colors back.”

The Queen pointed. “Look, a mirror maze!”

Inside the maze, mirrors showed funny faces. Rosie saw herself tall. Then tiny. Then wiggly like jelly.

Rosie giggled. “Silly mirror!”

The Illusionist tried to scare them. He made a shadow dragon on the wall. “Boo!”

Rosie’s knees shook. She was shy. She took a small breath.

The Queen whispered, “I am here.”

Rosie whispered back, “I am brave.”

She did a gentle ballet step: toe, toe, turn. She laughed a warm laugh, not too loud. “Ha-ha!”

Her laughter made the shadow dragon shrink… into a tiny shadow puppy.

The Queen laughed too. “Good puppy!”

The Illusionist blinked. “My scary trick… turned cute?”

Rosie nodded. “Laughing can change a trick.”

They found three little mirrors on the floor. One held BLUE like the sky. One held YELLOW like sunshine. One held PINK like cotton candy.

Rosie picked them up carefully. “These are the colors!”

The Illusionist reached out, then stopped. “I… I did not mean to make it sad.”

The Queen said, “Help us return them.”

The Illusionist took a deep breath. “Okay.”

Together they walked out of the maze. Rosie held the blue mirror to the fountain. Splash! The water turned bright blue.

The Queen held the yellow mirror up to the lights. Blink! Warm yellow sparkles returned.

The Illusionist held the pink mirror to the candy stand. Pop! Pink swirls shone again.

Music started: “ting-ting-ting!” The carousel woke up. The balloons bounced.

People cheered. The Queen smiled wide. “Rosie the Laughing Ballerina, you restored the colors.”

Rosie blushed. “I just danced… and laughed.”

The Illusionist bowed. “I will use my tricks to make smiles, not gloom.”

The Queen opened a small royal box. Inside was a glittery treasure: a tiny ballet crown with rainbow gems.

“For you,” said the Queen. “A crown for dancing.”

Rosie put it on. It sparkled in every color. Rosie did one big twirl.

“Hee-hee!” she laughed.

And the Amusement Park laughed with her, bright and happy again.
