Tum Tumn and the Quiet Colors

Kids stories

In the Enchanted Commons, Tum Tumn the shy Fairy and her giggly friend Flower meet a Giant who has taken all the colors. With a simple game and gentle magic, they bring the colors back—soft and calm—and earn a quiet rainbow treasure.
Tum Tumn and the Quiet Colors

Tum Tumn was a tiny Fairy in the Enchanted Commons. She was shy, but very brave inside. Her wings went flit-flit. Her glow went warm.

Her friend Flower lived nearby. Flower was bright and bouncy. Flower loved to giggle and say, “Hello, hello!”

Today, the Commons looked… dull. The grass was gray. The pond was pale. Even the butterflies looked sleepy.

Tum Tumn blinked. “Where did the colors go?”

Flower gasped. “Uh-oh. No pink! No blue! No sunny yellow!”

A big shadow fell over them.

A Giant stood by the hill. He was very tall. His feet were like big stones. He sniffed and grumbled, “Too bright. Too loud. I took the colors and put them in my sack.”

Tum Tumn felt her tummy wobble. But she held Flower’s hand.

“Please,” Tum Tumn said softly. “The Commons needs its colors.”

The Giant crossed his arms. “Mine now.”

Flower whispered, “Let’s be smart.”

Tum Tumn nodded. She was small, but she had a big idea.

“Giant,” she said, “do you like games?”

The Giant blinked. “Games?”

“A friendly contest,” Tum Tumn said. “If we win, you give back the colors. If you win, you keep them.”

The Giant smiled a slow smile. “I like winning.”

Flower clapped. “Yay! A game!”

They walked to the мягкий meadow in the Enchanted Commons. Tum Tumn picked three smooth pebbles: one round, one flat, one shiny.

“Game is simple,” Tum Tumn said. “Close your eyes. Guess which pebble is shiny.”

The Giant boomed, “Easy!” and closed his eyes tight.

Tum Tumn held the pebbles in her tiny palms. She did not trick. She only mixed them slowly, like a gentle dance.

Flower counted, “One… two… three…”

“Now!” Tum Tumn said.

The Giant pointed. “That one!”

Tum Tumn opened her hand. The shiny pebble was there.

The Giant frowned. “Again!”

They played again. And again. Tum Tumn stayed calm. Flower stayed cheerful.

The Giant guessed wrong the next time. Then wrong again.

He stomped, not mean, just loud. “My eyes are too squinty!”

Tum Tumn took a step closer. “Maybe you are tired. Bright colors can feel big. But the Commons feels sad without them.”

Flower nodded. “We can make it gentle. Soft colors. Not too loud.”

The Giant looked at the gray pond. He looked at the gray flowers. His shoulders drooped.

“I didn’t want sad,” he mumbled.

Tum Tumn lifted her little wand-finger. “I can help. I can teach the colors to be quiet.”

The Giant tilted his head. “Quiet colors?”

Tum Tumn smiled. “Pastel. Like a whisper.”

She fluttered up to the Giant’s sack. “May I?”

The Giant slowly untied the knot.

Inside were colors like ribbons: red-red, blue-blue, green-green. Tum Tumn hummed a tiny tune. Her Fairy light wrapped the ribbons like a blanket.

“Shhh,” Tum Tumn said.

The colors softened. They became gentle. They did not shout. They glowed like morning.

Flower twirled. “Pretty! Pretty!”

Tum Tumn sprinkled the quiet colors over the Enchanted Commons.

Green slid back into the grass. Blue slid back into the pond. Pink popped onto petals. Yellow kissed the sunbeam.

Butterflies woke up and danced.

The Giant watched, wide-eyed. “It’s… nice. Not too bright.”

Tum Tumn nodded. “You can visit. You can sit by the pond. We will keep it calm.”

The Giant gave a shy nod, like a mountain trying to bow.

Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out a treasure: a big smooth crystal marble, swirling with gentle rainbow.

“For you,” he said. “A quiet rainbow. One color, all colors.”

Tum Tumn held it with both hands. It felt cool and safe.

Flower squealed, “Best treasure!”

Tum Tumn’s wings went flit-flit. “Thank you. We can share.”

That night, in the Enchanted Commons, the grass was green, the pond was blue, and the air was soft and sweet. Tum Tumn and Flower rolled the rainbow marble back and forth, and even the Giant smiled, very quietly.
