Travis is a little boy. He lives in a bright Kingdom. The Kingdom has green fields and tall trees. Travis loves to play. Today Travis finds a shiny crown in the grass. He looks at the crown. It is small. It is gold. It is round. Travis says, “What is this?” He shows the crown to his friend Adventurer. Adventurer is brave. Adventurer smiles. “Maybe this crown belongs to the King,” says Adventurer. Travis nods. He feels happy and curious.
They walk down a white path. They pass a small house. The house is red. They knock on the door. A kindly Time Traveler opens. The Time Traveler has a big clock. The clock goes tick. Tick. The Time Traveler says, “Hello, little ones. What do you have?” Travis shows the crown. The Time Traveler smiles. “This crown is lost,” he says. “It may belong to the Story Author.” The Story Author lives by the castle. Let us go there. Travis and Adventurer and Time Traveler go on.
They march through the green field. They jump over small rocks. They wave at a friendly bird. The bird sings a sweet song. The three friends laugh. Travis holds the crown. He feels proud. They arrive at a big gate. The gate is blue. They knock and enter the castle yard. They see the Story Author. The Story Author sits on a bench. She writes a new tale. She wears a bright scarf. Her eyes sparkle.
Travis walks forward. He curtsies. He says, “We found a crown.” The Story Author looks up. She gasps. “My crown!” she cries. “Thank you for finding it.” Travis gives the crown to her. She lifts the crown. It sparkles in the sun. The Story Author laughs. “You are very kind,” she says. “Please stay and share tea.” Travis nods. Adventurer and Time Traveler clap. They all sit at a small table. A kind fox pours warm milk. A small rabbit brings honey cookies. They all eat and sip. Travis tastes a cookie. It is sweet. He smiles.
Suddenly, a gentle rumble shakes the ground. A little Monster peeks from behind a pillar. The Monster is small and soft. It has big round eyes. It looks sad. Travis asks, “Are you okay?” The Monster sniffles. “I lost my toy,” it says. Travis thinks. He pats the Monster. “We can help,” he says. Adventurer nods. The Time Traveler checks the clock. They all go back to the path. They look under leaves. Finally, Travis spots a small red ball. The ball is under a bush. Travis picks up the ball. He runs back to the Monster. “Here is your toy!” he says. The Monster jumps with joy. It hugs the ball. It giggles.
The Story Author claps. “Well done, Travis!” she cries. She opens her bag. She gives Travis a small gift box. Travis opens the box. Inside is a little badge. The badge shines like gold. It pictures a tiny crown. “This is for you,” says the Story Author. “You are our helper.” Travis feels warm. He puts the badge on his shirt. He feels proud. The Adventurer waves. The Time Traveler waves. The Monster waves. They all smile.
At sunset, Travis walks home. He holds his badge. The Kingdom glows in pink light. He thinks of his friends. He thinks of the crown and the badge. He feels happy. He knows he can help others. He can find lost things. And he can make friends. The end.
