Prince Miles and the Gentle Dragon

Kids stories

Prince Miles bravely returns the lost crown with help of a gentle dragon.
Prince Miles and the Gentle Dragon

Prince Miles wakes early in his cozy bed. He is small and shy. He lives in a big castle on a sunny hill. The sun is warm and bright. The birds sing soft songs by the tall windows.

Prince Miles sits up and rubs his eyes. He thinks about his task. Today he will find the lost golden crown. The crown is small and shiny. It belongs to Queen Anna, his kind mother.

Queen Anna waits in the high tower. Her gown is blue like the sky. She holds a map in her hands. She sees Prince Miles and smiles. She says, "Be kind, my brave prince. Be gentle and true." Miles nods. He tucks the map in his small bag. He steps onto the soft carpet. He ties his red cape. He feels a little flutter in his heart.

The great castle door opens with a creak. Miles walks down the long hall. The walls glow with torch light. Banners wave in the breeze. The floor is cool stone. He takes a deep breath and steps outside.

In the green garden, flowers bloom in bright pink, yellow, and white. Butterflies dance. A path of smooth stones leads to a forest. Miles walks along the stones. He hums a happy tune. The birds join in.

The forest is calm. Sunbeams peek through the tall trees. Leaves sway. Squirrels chatter. A rabbit hops by. Miles hears a soft roar. He stops. He hides behind a wide tree. He peeks out and sees a gentle dragon.

The dragon is green with gold specks. His eyes glow like warm lights. He holds the small golden crown in his claw. He looks sad and lonely.

Miles steps forward. He says, "Hello, friend. I am Prince Miles." The dragon tilts his head. He says in a soft rumble, "I found this crown by a stream. It shone so bright. I thought it was magic. I kept it safe."

Miles smiles and says, "The crown belongs to my mother, Queen Anna. She will be happy to have it back." The dragon lowers the crown. Miles kneels down and takes it gently. He bows his head and says, "Thank you, kind dragon."

The dragon lets out a tiny roar of joy. His wings flutter. Miles laughs. They share a happy moment. Then they walk together along the path of stones.

They reach the castle gates. Queen Anna stands at the top step. She sees her son and the dragon. She claps her hands. She cries, "Oh, my brave prince! Oh, kind dragon!"

Miles steps forward. He holds the crown high. He places it on Queen Anna's head. The crown fits like a hug. Queen Anna smiles and lifts Miles into her arms. She whispers, "I am so proud of you."

Guards stand by the tall gates. They wear shiny armor. They smile at Miles. They tip their helmets. They cheer, "Three cheers for Prince Miles!" They clap and stamp their boots. They shout, "Hip hip hooray!"

The dragon bows low. Queen Anna says, "Thank you, dear dragon. You are always welcome." The dragon lifts one wing and flies up, up, up into the bright blue sky. He circles once and waves his tail. Miles waves too and shouts, "Goodbye, friend!"

Inside the castle, a feast begins. There is sweet cake, warm milk, fruit, and bread. Miles sits at a small table. He tastes the cake. It is soft and sweet. He sips the milk. It is warm and smooth. He feels proud and happy. His heart glows like the crown.

Prince Miles learned that being kind can win a friend. He learned that being brave can make a hero. He learned that sharing and caring are gifts for all.
