Koa is a little boy. Koa is kind and brave. He holds a small lantern.
He tip-taps into the Secret Cavern. The cave is cool. The walls shine. Drip. Drip.
“Hello?” says Koa.
A soft wind swirls. A bright shape appears.
It is the Guardian Spirit. It looks like a gentle glow with sleepy eyes.
“I am here,” whispers the Guardian Spirit. “I keep this cavern safe.”
Koa nods. “I am Koa. I want to explore.”
The Guardian Spirit hums. “Okay. But we must be careful. The cavern likes quiet feet.”
Koa walks slowly. Tip. Tip.
Then—plop!
Koa’s lantern charm falls off. It rolls away. Click-click-click.
Koa’s eyes get big. “Oh no. My little charm!”
The light in his lantern gets small.
The cave looks darker.
Koa hugs his lantern. “I feel a little scared.”
The Guardian Spirit floats close. “It is okay. I stay with you.”
Koa takes a breath. In. Out.
“Can we find it?” asks Koa.
“Yes,” says the Guardian Spirit. “We will use our ears and our eyes.”
They listen.
Drip. Drip.
And… a tiny tinkle, far away.
“There!” says Koa.
They follow the sound. The floor is bumpy. The walls sparkle like tiny stars.
Koa whispers, “Pretty.”
The Guardian Spirit whispers, “The cavern is singing softly.”
They reach a narrow path. It is just big enough for Koa.
Koa pauses. “Small space.”
The Guardian Spirit glows warmer. “Hold my light. You can do it.”
Koa takes one step. Then two.
He crawls a bit. “I am doing it!”
“Good job,” says the Guardian Spirit.
At the end of the path, there is a little puddle.
In the puddle, something shines.
Koa points. “My charm!”
But it is under the water.
Koa looks at his hands. “Wet.”
The Guardian Spirit says, “Touch gently. The water is friendly.”
Koa reaches in. Splash.
He grabs the charm. “Got it!”
The lantern brightens again.
The cavern seems to smile.
Then the Guardian Spirit swirls toward a stone door Koa did not see before.
“Now the cavern will open a gift,” it whispers.
The stone door slides. Shhh.
Inside is a small box made of smooth crystal.
Koa gasps. “A treasure!”
The Guardian Spirit says, “For a brave, careful explorer.”
Koa opens the box.
Inside are tiny glow pebbles. Blue. Green. Gold.
They twinkle in his palm.
Koa laughs. “Sparkle stones!”
He puts one on his lantern. It sticks like magic.
Now his lantern makes happy dots of light on the cave walls.
Koa waves. “Thank you, Guardian Spirit.”
The Guardian Spirit hums, “You were scared, and you stayed kind. That is brave.”
Koa holds his lantern close, with his charm and his sparkle stone.
Tip-tap, he walks out of the Secret Cavern.
The glow pebbles jingle softly in his pocket.
Koa smiles. “I will come back. With quiet feet.”
