Benjamin and the Color Seeds

Kids stories

Benjamin, a gentle dinosaur in the Jungle Sanctuary, teams up with a kind Professor to bring back the jungle’s missing colors—by asking an Ogre to share the shiny Color Seeds.
Benjamin and the Color Seeds

Benjamin was a little dinosaur in the Jungle Sanctuary. He was big, but gentle. He liked soft moss and warm sun. He was curious, too. He sniffed flowers. He listened to birds.

One bright morning, Benjamin saw something wrong. The jungle looked a bit dull. Not very dull. Just… less bright.

“Hmm,” said Benjamin. “Where did the happy colors go?”

A tall Professor walked by. The Professor wore round glasses and carried a tiny bag.

“Hello, Benjamin,” said the Professor. “I have a question. Do you see the missing colors?”

Benjamin nodded. “Yes. I want them back.”

The Professor pointed to a stone path. “We will restore colors. We will find the Color Seeds. They are small and shiny.”

Benjamin clapped his short hands. “Seeds! Like snacks!”

The Professor laughed. “Not for eating. For planting.”

They walked past big leaves. They walked past a slow river. Drip. Drop. A frog said, “Boop.” Benjamin tried to say it too. “Boop!”

Then they heard a heavy stomp.

THUMP.

An Ogre stood near a vine gate. He was huge. He held a basket full of bright Color Seeds.

“Mine,” grumbled the Ogre. “Pretty. Mine.”

Benjamin’s tummy felt wiggly. He hid a little behind the Professor.

The Professor whispered, “We can be brave and kind.”

Benjamin took a slow breath. In. Out. He stepped forward.

“Hello, Ogre,” said Benjamin in a soft voice. “Those seeds help the Jungle Sanctuary. Can we have them back?”

The Ogre blinked. “No. I like shiny things.”

Benjamin thought hard. He had an idea. He was clever in a quiet way.

Benjamin looked at the Ogre’s ears. They were covered with sticky burrs.

“Ogre,” Benjamin said, “your ears look itchy. Want help?”

The Ogre touched his ear. “Itchy,” he admitted.

Benjamin gently picked off the burrs. One. Two. Three. The Professor counted. “Good job, Benjamin.”

The Ogre’s face softened. “Better,” he said.

The Professor opened the tiny bag. Inside was a small mirror that caught the sunlight.

“Look,” said the Professor. The mirror made a dancing spot of light on a leaf. “Shiny can be shared.”

Benjamin added, “If we plant the seeds, the whole jungle will be shiny. Flowers. Trees. Even your basket can be filled again later.”

The Ogre scratched his chin. “Whole jungle shiny?”

“Yes,” said Benjamin. “And you can help.”

The Ogre huffed, then held out the basket. “Okay. Plant.”

They planted Color Seeds in a sunny clearing. Benjamin dug little holes with his toes. The Professor patted the soil. The Ogre carried water in a big shell.

Splash. Splash.

A breeze came. The ground twinkled. Green grew greener. Red flowers popped up like buttons. Blue butterflies floated by.

“Whoa,” said Benjamin. “So bright!”

The Jungle Sanctuary looked happy again.

The Professor handed Benjamin a reward: a small pouch of extra Color Seeds.

“For you,” said the Professor. “A treasure for your own garden spot.”

Benjamin hugged the pouch. “Thank you!”

The Ogre smiled, a shy, lumpy smile. He got a reward too: a smooth shiny stone that the Professor found by the river.

“Shiny,” the Ogre whispered, pleased.

That night, Benjamin fell asleep under bright leaves, holding his seed pouch close. The jungle hummed softly. Safe. Colorful. And shared.
